Checked hive #3
The girls were not at all happy. They are usually very calm. I started finding queen cells. There was capped brood, a few larva, a lot of nectar, some pollen, some capped honey. Found about 8 queen cells. Did not see the queen. I believe she swarmed with some of the hive.
After a conversation with another beekeeper, we concluded that the hive was putting up too much nectar/sugar syrup and there was no room left for the queen to lay.
So I had to decide to either destroy all but two of the queen cells or try and do a split.
