Last year I just 2" insulation in a large black trash bag and wrapped it around the hives. Lost one hive to unknown cause. This year I am trying something different.

| This is a burlap bag bought from the local farm supply store. I filled it with pine chips and then quilted it with zip ties. |

| I placed the bags on top of each hive. The bag fits perfectly on a 3 foot hive |

| I added 1" foam boards to the sides and replaced the top. |
