Reconstructing the front steps

The large limestone steps in the front of the house had collapsed several years before I moved in. Probably caused by the large ground on the property.  Due to the slope of the front yard, it would have been hard to get large equipment up to the house to move the stones. So it was all done by hand.

First, my son-in-law James helped me move the stones away from the base. I then dug down and put in a lay of gravel, then poured a concrete base with the help from my daughters Kate and Sara.

Then had James and Banet, Kate's boyfriend over and the moved the stones back into place. Each stone weighed from 800 to 900 pounds.
