Stapled duct wrap insulation to the sides, then add tarps. Plugged any open entrances with pieces of sponge and stapled on mouse guards.
I used to use pieces of foam on the sides, but those were hard to get to stay in place. I have never used mouse guards, and never had a problem until last winter. Opened up one hive and found a mouse nest in the back.
I also insulate over the bars with burlap bags full of wood chips. I leave these on year around. They help to insulate the hives in summer from overheating.
