Inspected the dead colonies

 Lost 4 of the five colonies. Three were from small swarms in the Spring; one was a, at least, 3 year old colony.

This colony froze and had no honey stores left. But they did move up
and use the candyboard. This was a swarm colony.

This was the older colony. No stores left. Small amount of brood left. They did move up to 

use the candyboard.

This colony absconded at some point. The frame below shows signs of robbing.

This colony was mostly in the shade for the Fall and winter. I will never put
another colony in a shady area again. Froze, no stores left.
